A recent Salesforce survey has revealed that customers prefer to shop small to help the economy, but they think small businesses will need better technology to properly serve their customers. With the pandemic making contactless transactions a priority for both customers and staff, there’s never been a better time for your small business to go digital. This month we give you a few tips on what that could look like for your business.
Get Online
If your business doesn’t have a website yet - what are you waiting for? It’s actually a lot less daunting to set one up than you might think. SquareSpace, Wix, Weebly and WordPress all offer easy setup and reasonable prices and you definitely don’t need to be tech-savvy to work it out. If you’re out of your depth, check out your local small businesses for someone who can put together a basic website for you. Make sure it looks professional because first impressions count and no website means you could lose business (Forbes 2014).
Get Social
Your customer’s eyeballs are probably focused on their social media account more than ever before. As a small business, showcasing your personality and biz can help you stand out from the crowd. If you’re new to this stuff, pick one (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and do it well. There are plenty of tips out there for getting the most out of business social media pages, but my favourite is @hipstermumsocial on Instagram - she posts great tips all the time.
Get Contactless
Contactless payments are an essential 2020 accessory. Square is a pretty low cost solution if you haven’t got anything set up yet. Depending on your type of business, offering click and collect or pre-ordering options can be very beneficial for both customers and staff. It’s not only safer in the Covid-era but super convenient for your time-poor customers.
Xero and QuickBooks Online is a great way for your small business to go digital (here are a few reasons why). This is what we are passionate about so connect with us to find out more.
